Luxury Yachting

It was the spring of 1875, and the air over the Weser River in Bremen carried the faint tang of salt from the nearby North Sea. In a small workshop at the riverbank, Friedrich Lürssen, a man of twenty-four, was surrounded by planks of oak, copper rivets, and the scent of freshly cut timber.

It all began in the flat lands of the Netherlands, where windmills watched over canals and rivers carried centuries of trade. In 1949, a vision took root between the yards of two family shipbuilders: Van Lent and De Vries.

In the heart of the Dutch shipbuilding region, along the canals and industrial docks of Alblasserdam, a small team of engineers and dreamers were quietly reshaping the future of luxury yachting.
