Registration follows on Sunday, and by Monday morning the skippers are in the briefing before the first race starts at 11:00. Ten First 35s come from Marina Jezera and another ten First 36s from Biograd, with the Kornati listed as the provisional race area.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"7850\" data-end=\"8073\">A charter holiday built around the event needs a different timetable. Trying to watch several starts, sail a separate itinerary and reach a new marina every night would turn a week on the Adriatic into a logistics exercise.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8075\" data-end=\"8195\">The easier option is to give the regatta two or three days of its own, then leave with a boat once you have seen enough.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"1gketu8\" data-start=\"8197\" data-end=\"8218\">Biograd or Jezera?<\/h2><p data-start=\"8260\" data-end=\"8645\">Biograd sits opposite Pa\u0161man and has long been one of Croatia\u2019s main charter centres. Boats can move north towards Zadar and Dugi Otok or south towards Murter and the \u0160ibenik islands without a long opening passage. The marina infrastructure also reflects the scale of sailing in the region: Split-Dalmatia and \u0160ibenik-Knin together handled almost 100&#8217;000 transit vessel visits in 2025.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8647\" data-end=\"8812\">Jezera lies on Murter, much closer to the Kornati. A crew starting there can reach the outer islands quickly without spending half a day clearing the mainland coast.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8814\" data-end=\"9097\">Adriatic Sailing Week uses both bases because the two yacht classes come from different fleets. First 35 crews start from Jezera; the First 36s come from Biograd. Once racing begins, the twenty boats compete together for the overall result, with separate class rankings alongside it.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"9099\" data-end=\"9389\">For a holiday charter, boat choice matters more than copying the race fleet. A couple or small group that wants to sail actively may be happier on a monohull. A family that expects long lunches aboard and plenty of swimming space may prefer a catamaran. The local distances work for either.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"13mkadt\" data-start=\"9391\" data-end=\"9443\">Watch the first race, then leave the fleet behind<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"9445\" data-end=\"9595\">Monday 28 September gives visitors a natural point to see the event begin. The skippers\u2019 briefing is scheduled for 09:30 and the first race for 11:00.<\/p><p data-start=\"9597\" data-end=\"9676\">There is no need to spend the rest of the week trying to find the fleet at sea.&nbsp;A charter starting afterwards can head from Biograd towards \u017dut or Dugi Otok, or from Jezera straight towards the Kornati. The distances remain modest enough to spend more time sailing than motoring between compulsory overnight stops.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"9914\" data-end=\"10229\">One route could take the boat through the Kornati before returning towards Murter and \u0160ibenik. The city gives the trip a proper night ashore rather than another marina attached to a resort, and the approach through St Anthony\u2019s Channel is memorable enough without inventing extra stops simply to fill the itinerary.<\/p><p data-start=\"10231\" data-end=\"10409\">The following day does not need a new destination. Stay around the \u0160ibenik archipelago, swim, sail for a few hours and move only if the forecast and crew still make it appealing.&nbsp;The spare day starts earning its place when the weather changes.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"1wg2dqq\" data-start=\"10478\" data-end=\"10522\">Seven nights do not require seven marinas<\/h2><p data-start=\"10524\" data-end=\"10623\">Croatian charter itineraries are often planned too tightly before the boat has even been collected.&nbsp;The attraction is obvious on a map. Islands sit close together, so it seems perfectly reasonable to assign one to every day. Once the trip starts, each additional stop also brings an arrival time, mooring decision, possible reservation and another departure the following morning.<\/p><p data-start=\"10907\" data-end=\"10945\">Late September rewards a little slack.&nbsp;A seven-night charter from Biograd might use only four main areas: the home marina, Dugi Otok or \u017dut, the Kornati, and Murter or \u0160ibenik on the return. From Jezera, there is even less reason to rush because the Kornati lie so close.<\/p><p data-start=\"11181\" data-end=\"11288\">The spare time can go into actual sailing. It can also disappear into weather without damaging the holiday.&nbsp;Croatia had 18&#8217;850 nautical moorings in 2025, and 12-to-15-metre boats accounted for the largest group of transit vessels using sea berths. Charter crews are operating in the busiest part of that market. September is easier than August, but booking assumptions still need to match the marina, day and forecast rather than the idea that shoulder season guarantees an empty quay.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"11669\" data-end=\"11903\">Anchoring or using buoy fields opens more options, subject to local regulations and protected-area rules. In the Kornati, entry arrangements and mooring rules need checking before departure rather than after the boat reaches the park.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"yve2ku\" data-start=\"11905\" data-end=\"11968\">The race boats are more equal than your charter crew will be<\/h2><p data-start=\"11970\" data-end=\"12043\">Adriatic Sailing Week removes much of the equipment argument from racing.&nbsp;The First 35 and First 36 fleets sail under controlled configurations, with the same declared sails retained through the regatta. Seven races are scheduled, and the one-design class results do not use handicaps inside each class. Crews still make mistakes, but they have fewer excuses involving the boat.<\/p><p data-start=\"12351\" data-end=\"12421\">A holiday group has no reason to impose the same discipline on itself.&nbsp;If two people aboard enjoy trimming sails and another two are mainly there for swimming and dinner ashore, build the days accordingly. Do not book a performance-oriented monohull because the trip happens to coincide with a regatta.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"12656\" data-end=\"12962\">The First 35 crews themselves are generally organised around about five sailors. The newer First 36 takes up to seven. That is already a clue to how different a race setup feels from a normal charter, where cabins, privacy and living space may matter more than how quickly five people can hoist a gennaker.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"12964\" data-end=\"13084\">Watching the crews prepare in Biograd or Jezera can be half the entertainment. Then take a boat suited to your own week.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"1mhwqax\" data-start=\"13086\" data-end=\"13116\">What late September changes<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"13118\" data-end=\"13314\">The numbers from Croatia&#8217;s tourism season show that September is still busy. There were 11.9 million commercial overnight stays across the country in September 2025, 6.3% more than a year earlier.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"13316\" data-end=\"13595\">The composition changes more than the existence of tourism. School-holiday family traffic falls away, roads become easier and the extreme marina pressure of July and August begins to ease. Sailors, couples and groups without school calendars gain more room to choose their dates.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"13597\" data-end=\"13778\">Central Dalmatia remains one of the most active sailing areas in the country. \u0160ibenik-Knin recorded 44&#8217;954 transit vessels using sea moorings in 2025, second only to Split-Dalmatia.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"13780\" data-end=\"14091\">Restaurants on the islands gradually reduce hours as the season moves into October, so a late-September charter requires a little more checking before assuming every konoba will be open. Fuel, provisions and marina services should also be planned before heading into the less developed parts of the archipelago.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"14093\" data-end=\"14199\">None of that requires a complicated itinerary. It requires knowing where you expect to spend the next day.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"16n1y7g\" data-start=\"14201\" data-end=\"14233\">Return when the race crews do<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"14235\" data-end=\"14496\">Adriatic Sailing Week&#8217;s charter period finishes on Saturday 3 October. A separate charter booked for the same week will probably return on a similar Saturday-to-Saturday rhythm, bringing the boats back to Biograd or Jezera as the regatta crews hand theirs over.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"14498\" data-end=\"14668\">By then, the event expects to have completed as many as seven races. Four or more allow each crew to discard its worst result; fewer than four leave every score counting.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"14670\" data-end=\"14841\">Your own week&#8217;s numbers will look less tidy. Perhaps four islands, three proper sailing days, one afternoon lost to weather and a marina you liked enough to stay in twice.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"14843\" data-end=\"15102\">Les <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grabmyboat.com\/fr\/categorie\/evenements-nautiques\/\">race<\/a> crews need a result before they return the boats.
